Symptoms and other stuff going on

by The Boss
Symptoms for week FIVE
  • A little sick. It hasn’t been to bad, which is good.
  • Heartburn…just from glancing at food.
  • Sleepy..constantly
  • And a fresh burst of stupidity :]

Right now, this baby is growing fast. He or she is the about the size of a sesame seed or a grain of rice…isn’t that cute!! Vital organs are developing. The heart will start dividing into four chambers and start pumping blood!! The neural tube is developing, that is where the brain, spinal chord and nervous system will grow from.

So cool!!!

Aidan always wants to know how big the baby is. Today, I showed her and Andrew a grain of rice and told them that was how big the baby was. Aidan was like “wow!” and Andrew ate his grain of rice and said “mmmmm..delicious mommy!” It made me laugh. Aidan is always asking me “why can the baby not come out now?” When I gave her the grain of rice and she dropped it and couldn’t find it, I told her that was one very god reason why the baby couldn’t come out yet. That made me laugh too :]

Pregnant again!!!!

by The Boss

It was the Friday before Christmas when we found out that we were expecting number four. I was SO shocked! We had not planned on having anymore children, in fact I had just finished giving away most of my baby stuff, which is probably the cause of my pregnancy, right? Isn’t that what makes babies? Giving away your baby stuff that you’ve been holding onto “just in case” you got pregnant again. Or, it could have been my sweet friend who I gave my baby bed to that said “Are you sure you want to give me this bed? You know you will get pregnant as soon as you do.” In which I quickly replied ” NO I WONT!” Maybe that’s what happened…I said “never” in a way.

Regardless of the snide remarks, “Again!?!?” and “You’re never going to have anything.” My husband and I could not be happier. I am always amazed at people’s thoughts on children. Especially those who claim to live by the word of God. The Word says that “Children are a gift from God” and “How blessed is the man who’s quiver is full of them.”

This baby was not in my plan, or my husbands plan. This baby was and is in God’s plan. I feel so rich and blessed.

P.S. More than likely, we will have the baby in Waynesboro, TN at the Natchez Trace Maternity Center. That is where Zion was born. It was an absolute wonderful experience!!!

Homemade pizza

by The Boss

I love homemade pizza!!! It is one of my favorite things to make.

I usually make my crust with mostly whole wheat flour, but you can use white if you like.

This recipe is easily doubled.

You will need the following:

  • Whole wheat or all- purpose flour ( I use both)
  • Sugar
  • salt
  • yeast ( 1 packet will make 1 large pizza)
  • olive oil
  • 1 cup of very warm water ( 1 cup of water for one large pizza)
  • Large bowl
  • hand mixer or spoon and lots of energy :)

For one Large pizza

Step 1: put one cup of whole wheat flour in bowl, add 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 package of yeast ( 2 1/4 teaspoons,) 3 tablespoons of olive oil and 1 cup of very warm water.

Step 2: Use the hand mixer, and mix for about 3 minutes.

Step 3: stir in more flour a little at a time(if you use whole wheat flour, this would be the step where you would add all-purpose white flour). You just want enough to make the dough leave the sides of the bowl and to make the dough soft. You can either place your dough on a lightly floured surface to knead, or just leave it in the bowl and knead it. I always leave mine in the bowl, it’s less of a mess to clean up that way. You want to knead it about 5 minutes. The dough should be smooth and springy.

Step 4: Cover the dough in the bowl and let it rise. You want to avoid letting air get in there. I usually just place mine in the oven. That way the kids can’t pull the towel off or poke their fingers in there :] Let it rise for about 30 minutes.

Step 5: Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.Punch the dough and stretch it to fit your pizza pan. For parties, make tiny pizzas by making little balls of dough and rolling them out. Cook the dough about 11 minutes.

Step 6: Toppings!!! I like to use roasted garlic and basil spaghetti sauce for the sauce. Garlic is a must for us, along with mozzarella and plum tomatoes. After you add your toppings cook a little longer, about 5-10 minutes.

Experiment!! I usually start with recipes from cookbooks and then I tweak it until I like it. I suggest you do the same with anything you see here. Make it yours!

Let me know if you try it!

haven’t posted in a while….

by The Boss

Well, as hard as I tried to do the homemade gift thing….I failed. I managed to get one gift complete, and I might say that it is the coolest thing I have ever made. I made a purse for my sister-in-law Laura.

I tried really hard to find time for more handmade gifts, but between my finals for school and being super tired I just didn’t get to finish the others. I am still going to continue to at least make great efforts to give homemade gifts from here on out, and maybe next Christmas all my gifts will be handmade.

Little did we know that all my tiredness last month was due to the fact that we are expecting again. WOOOHOOO!!!

I started a preggo journal called “I’m hatching.” Check it out!

January is going to be exciting because I will be attending my second birth (as a doula) I can’t wait!!!

My youngest is turning TWO on the sixth of January… I can’t believe how time flies.

That’s all for now.

Happy New Year!!

A Nice Walk after an Awesome Meal

by The Boss

After we ate on Thanksgiving, we decided that we needed to walk a little. We got the kids bundled up, and then took off. Jacob and Laura have an awesome home, there is a state forest right off of their property. So, we took advantage.

Then of course, Ben climbed a tree. It was the highlight of his walk. Andrew is standing there thinking his dad is the coolest dad in the world.

We tried not to go to far, but we managed to have a good time. It was just enough to tire the kids out a little, and it was a good time with our friends and family. One of my favorite Thanksgivings by far.
